YOU CAN DO IT, ITS FOR YOU, ITS YOU.

Imagine yourself being part of a nationwide creative conversation about a significant issue facing the church. Picture yourself being supported by other writers in developing and polishing a fictional short story that, like the parables, stimulates deeper thinking about real concerns of the church.

As a member of the Presbyterian Writers Guild (PWG), you are invited to stretch your creative skills by joining “A Progressive Feast in Parabolic Story.” Entrants will work on the theme, setting, character development, story outline, etc. while receiving helpful feedback from their colleagues.  Like a progressive feast, participants will move over eight to ten months from one stage to the next, each time receiving feedback from other participants, and culminating in a polished story that challenges the church to reflect on the interaction of faith with a current issue.

It’s inexpensive—PWG membership plus $20.

It’s supportive—Your colleagues will give you helpful feedback at every stage.

It’s creative—Fiction allows you to explore new ways of viewing issues. Even as you write and receive feedback, you will discover new ideas that had not occurred to you.

It’s ministry—You are engaging your reader to reflect on the Gospel in a fresh way.

It’s easy—To participate send your name, email, and $20 to Emily Odom, 2336 Strathmoor Blvd., Louisville,  KY 40205

It’s you—The story within you that is waiting to be told.

AUGUST BONUS: The first eight entrants in August will receive a free copy of An Experiment in Modern Parables—winners of the last contest. Be sure to send your physical address in case you are one of the first eight.
