GOD WILL NOT BE DEFEATED

RELEASE OF MY NEW NOVEL, SHOCK AND AWE, IN EARLY FEBRUARY

CAN YOU PICTURE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE for a predominantly White church to address racism as a path to their own spiritual growth?

What does it take for churches to engage each other and listen for God’s whisper of reconciling the church to God’s self and not counting their sins against them?

What if God was inviting Christians to choose to journey across the wilderness of racism toward a Promised Land?

SHOCK AND AWE tells the story of what it might look like for a church to

Work through the fears and guilt of the racism in our society and

Grow spiritually on their journey.

The pastor, Fred Livinggood, rushes to the hospital to support Tony Southgate, his Black pastor colleague. He finds Tony facing the terror of most Black parents. His son has been shot by Baltimore police officers and clings to his life. The subject of racism quickly becomes more than an abstract discussion. It’s personal now, and Fred is determined to confront his largely Caucasian church in addressing racism as a spiritual challenge. Churches don’t like to have their comfortable faith disrupted, but Fred chooses to get creative and allow conflict to be a challenge rather than a threat.

If you have ever wondered how churches can creatively listen to God in the arena of racism, then this novel helps tell a possible story that can spark your imagination. Maybe it can spark your church on a new spiritual journey.

You will also learn how Christians can learn from South Africa about how our own version the Truth and Reconciliation Commission can offer us hope for a reconciled world. Wouldn’t that be poetic justice and also a demonstration of how God is not defeated by our sins but invites us to engage in a redemptive faith.

ISN’T THAT WHAT WE WANT?  In this soon to be released novel, you can enjoy a good story, discuss it with your friends, and explore a new hope for our Christian community addressing one of the most complex issues confronting our society.

RACISM DOESN’T NEED TO DEFEAT WHITE CHURCHES.
