Two blog series

Healthy churches & faithful anti-racism

At    eighty-five years of age and with declining health, I want to begin two series of blogs that reflect my insight from 58 years of ordained ministry. While I am not under the illusion that I have perfect insight, I think that there is value to offering my thoughts and encouraging dialogue about my ideas.

The first topic is how we maintain our physical, emotional, and spiritual health in what appears to be an increasingly stressful profession. While I will address specific topics, a major resource for the entire subject is a nine-volume series that I have published with the title Healthy Clergy Make Healthy Congregatiions. You can find each of these volumes on my website, www.smccutchan.com  and click on the box listed as Healthy Clergy.

The second topic, how pastors and churches can develop a healthy anti-racism ministry, can be found by clicking on the box labeled “Response to Racism.” On my website, www.smccutchan.com, you will find several non-fiction books, and one novel, “Shock and Awe”, addressing the subject. A second novel, “Hospitality for Alien Strangers,” also addresses the subject but from a sci-fi perspective. Look for it on the website but in  a separate listing.

Over the next several months, I will try to address these two subjects.  My plan is to address the issue racism on Tuesdays and the issue of healthy clergy on Fridays. While I may miss a few days for reasons of health or professional commitments, for the most part, if you are interested in either of those subjects, those are the days upon which you will find my blogs.

The blogs are for free, but the books have a moderate cost. If there is a particular topic you want to see addressed, please write me at SPmccutchan@outlook.com .

I would appreciate your sharing these ideas with other colleagues. Questions that arise, or either agreements or disagreements are welcome.  We need to address these two major topics as the church seeks to respond to and offer hope and healing to the world in which we live.

May you experience God’s blessings on your ministry.

If you enjoy the content of my blogs, I invite you to connect.
